The overlooks are at their best and the creeks are running. What a beautiful trail. Probably the best trail that "nobody knows about!" I threw lots of debris and downed trees off the trail. There is a tree that is blocking the trail on the steep downhill between the dam and CR510 trailhead. The tree is located in a spot where a rider will be coming down fast and turning a corner. Could be a real bad deal! There is also a widow maker hanging in a tree in the same location. If I get a chance, I'll try to get out with a chainsaw and take care of the tree before someone ... It was also nice to ride maintained trails. The bike scene here in Kirksville leaves plenty to be desired to say the least. The trails are in pretty rough shape, but it is my aim to have them in more user friendly condition within the next several weeks -- weather permitting. Currently the trail is mowed, but still needs sapling/corridor work in most sections. It has been reported that a 200 class whitetail has been spotted on the CA, if you remember Scott Fowler of Florida harvested a monster whitetail at Poosey in Sept of 2004. The deer that has been sighted on more than one occasion is expected to be as big or bigger than the Fowler buck which is creating a big stir so the area will be flooded ... Went down on Friday afternoon to pre-ride the course but they didnt have it setup yet so I just rode the trails to get use to the terrain....really loose rock and lots of washouts with serious tree roots. We cut out several downed trees and trimmed the trail wide enough that there is long site lines. Another good work day and we can get the other half of the Tall Oaks completed.

The steady light rain began while I was on old 190 and didn't stop the whole time but it was still a really good ride. I told myself that I would rest tomorrow but if the weather is fair I will probably ride to my parents ... I'm off work this Friday July 3rd and planning starting some much needed TLC on the Tall Oaks and River Forks trails. I was on the South Thompson last night and it is still very wet and tore up. The majority of the work need on Tall Oaks is cutting, trimming, and a whole lot of dirt work / bridge work. The trailer is up here and the forecast is suppose to be quite cooler. Just give me a shout if interested!!!

This is a really great place to visit and to ride, I was able to race there last year and loved it. I will be in Branson all that week and plan to head down Sat and race on Sun morning, will probably get a preride in on Sat to refresh myself of the course and see the section that I didn't ride last year as I am stepping up a class this year. I cleared all the storm debris and cut out the two trees that were down and covering the trail. James and I rode the "up and back" to 17 yesterday and threw more debris off the trail. Stan and Michelle cleared the section from the dam to 510. There is only one large tree that you have to dismount on right before the "Accelerator." I plan on getting out an trimming the ...
