Still Healing

Here is a pic of my shoulder, today is Wed and the wipeout was last Thur. I still have some swelling in the shoulder but the bruise is looking much much better. The trail rash that went almost all the way down my back is gone, so that is a positive.

You know how at 12 Miles of Hell they have the "Big Balls" award, maybe we should have the "Humpty Dumped Me" award at RIM .

I was hoping I would win a front wheel in the raffle at the race

TheDawg 5

TheTree 1

Had an unfortunate wrestling match with a tree last night on the CG loop. After talking to coach Sunday night he advised me to ride this section clockwise. I headed down the short connector from the restroom and hung a right on the trail. Came back out on the gravel and headed DOWN the south side of the campground. This section is fast and furious. Im flying down this very fast and flowing section when boom.... a hard switch back to the left. I rode it ...

Hooked!!!!! Headed out to Poosey yesterday after work, got there and they had alot of rain that we didnt get back in the city!!! We decided to head to north poosey and ride the gravel roads. Had a blast. 1st time off the pavement. My downhills on loose gravel made me a bit edgy because Im not 100% comfortable yet on "Sugar", but im sure it will come around. Got back to the parking lot and headed thru the fields to 17. Didnt look to wet so we took off. Now Im really having a ...

Not Tubeless Option

I run tubeless on my full suspension bike but I have not converted my single speed over to tubeless yet and probably won't for a while. I was thinking about adding some stans in between my tire and tube for some added protection but I read some where that somone had used a syringe and added the sealant into their tube and let the sealant seal the needle hole and then had the sealant working from the inside. I guess for that matter you could put a small patch over the hole to make sure it was ...

Now that I have your attention, yes my wife caught me on Mary, that is my new all rigid single speed 29er....Haro Mary SS. I have crossed into 2 new areas with this bike, I now have a 29er and also a single speed. I love all the training options that go with this and my other bikes. I opted for the bike in Carolina Blue, it sure is a good looking bike!!!!!!
John Harter, if you read this I would like your input on what gearing options you like for different conditions.

The weather forecast is looking pertty good for the next few days with warmer temps/sunny and windy (Monday).
The trails were drying out on Saturday so other than the weep areas and possible wet conditions at bridge on Tall oaks, the trails may be rideable. I'm taking my bike up with me and working, then giving the trails a test. Contact me via email if you want to ride. I'll post about the trail conditions.

Technique Question

I need some insight on how to cross a wheel sucking muddy area. Obviously I wouldn't be riding the trail when the conditions are like this but I have done only a handful of races and about half of them have had areas to cross that are soupy muddy messes. The first time I attempted one of these I rode a line that several others had ridden and it didn't work out too well for me. The second time I went out as far as the tape would allow and got better traction and was able to manuever better. ...

It is my understanding that there is someone on this forum that has the username of Shiflett and that this person feels that they are a better mountain biker than me. Apparently he feels that his numorus wins and high finshes in his racing career tops my ability to finish races as a beginner. Hey, not just anyone can finish a begginer race, trust me I know because the only guy I beat had a busted bike (I know this because he was beating me when it happened and I ended up passing him, that's ...

I rode at Crowder yesterday, the first time back on my back after a one month lapse, and I felt like a Panda on a unicycle . My skills were not as sharp and I failed to ride as clean as I would have liked. My endurance as dropped off a bit but I know that will come back but it was a perfect day to be out on a bike .
