Pinch yourself, the weather is suppose to be in the 70's this weekend and Indian Creek is calling for some knobbie friends to come out and play. The overlooks are at their best and the creeks are running. What a beautiful trail. Probably the best trail that "nobody knows about!"

Mitch and I have been busy little trail elves, taking advantage of dry temps and strong tail winds to get the trails blown from #17 down to the dam.

I plan on getting out to the CG loop today and ...

I rode from #17 south to the CGL and back up today. I threw lots of debris and downed trees off the trail.

There is a tree that is blocking the trail on the steep downhill between the dam and CR510 trailhead. The tree is located in a spot where a rider will be coming down fast and turning a corner. Could be a real bad deal! There is also a widow maker hanging in a tree in the same location. If I get a chance, I'll try to get out with a chainsaw and take care of the tree before someone ...

Just a warning. If you want to ride Indian Creek before the trails get closed for deer season, better get er done this week. Looks like great weather to ride and the views to the bottoms are beautiful.

The creeks are running bank full. I did a recon hike last week the day after one of the big rains and all the waterfalls were dropping water. Indian Creek is an awesome hike in the winter, and especially after a rain. I like to hike in and see where all the water is going and where the ...

Don't be overly surprised if there are a lot of vehicles at Poosey for the next several weeks especially during early morning and evening hours. It has been reported that a 200 class whitetail has been spotted on the CA, if you remember Scott Fowler of Florida harvested a monster whitetail at Poosey in Sept of 2004.

The deer that has been sighted on more than one occasion is expected to be as big or bigger than the Fowler buck which is creating a big stir so the area will be flooded ...

Denny and I have been busy trying to get "our home trail" so we can ride it without giving blood.

I finished the campground loop and connector to boat ramp on Wednesday.

Denny and I got busy at #17 today and Denny finished mowing the shelter house to the bottom section, then some weedeating on Patti's Point and the bottom of Dog Hill, where the stinging nettles were making riding a bit painful.

I cut out the tree that was down on the other side of Deer Camp. There is ...

I went out yesterday and the rain and wind has uprooted several trees that have fallen on the trails, bad deal is that they didnt just fall crossways....but length ways. So going to need chainsaws and manpower. Im up for it whenever. I went in on 510 and headed up the trail, picked up several small trees and limbs but couldnt get big stuff myself. Lots of washouts also.

Just read an email from Denny and he informs me that there has been horses on the trail between the dam and 510 access.

Denny says they kicked up a lot of rocks and chewed up the steep climb to 510. If you see horses on the trail, we need to find out who they are and contact the conservation dept. law enforcement.

I'm hoping this is not going to start being a pattern. We have had some atv's on the campground lap also. I have contacted Phil Sneed about both of these instances.

We have been very busy working at Indian Creek over the winter/spring getting the extension from the Girl Scout project over to the boat launch and then the completion of the loop around the campground. Just when I thought I'd seen it all with the way the creeks had been cut with all the rain, I realize there was a new-deeper standard. I think we are seeing the "wet standard" and I'm ready for some draught.

By what I could tell by the lines he was riding, it might have been a rider from out of the area visiting.

Just a reminder that the trails will still be going through the freeze thaw cycles and can easily be damaged if ridden under wet conditions. If temps are low and soil crunchy, no problem.

Updated Indian Creek

I spent about 5 hours walking from #17 parking area to Deer Camp throwing off debris and checking trail conditions and making mental notes of maintenance needs.

This section of trail would have been perfect to ride today. There are a few soft spots and a set of tire tread ruts were left in some areas. We have some creek crossings that may need some armour work.

I plan on doing the stretch from 510 access to Deer Camp in the near future.

Their calling for rain tonight so I won't get back ...

Indian Creek report

I rode from #14 south to past the Deer camp and up to the telephone pole climb. I turned around because the trail was too soft to climb.

Still lots of debris on the trail. No downed trees on the section I rode. The new trail from 14 to the service road is "burned in" by the deer. We need to plan a good work day at Indian Creek as soon as the race is over.

If you ride out there, be prepared to pull sticks out of your spokes. Also, creek crossings need to be cleaned out and reinforced. ...

I went out and walked from Gravel lot 14 all the way down to where "Bottom Hollow Road" crosses the trail and threw off debris. The trail has considerable limbs and twigs from the icing that we recieved. I think they got it worse than we did in Chillicothe. I didn't run across any trees down but lots of leaners that had lost roots and were overhanging the trail. I blew the trail off in December so the leaves are gone. The deer are running the trail as evidenced by the hooving ...

Phil Snead and I will be walking through a section of trail from the south campground, around the point, to the gravel lot at the boat launch. When approved, I will get started on this section and may plan a work weekend to complete it ASAP. A big part of the trail will hug the lake shore making for some scenic riding and fishing access. We'll be talking about signage at that time also. If you have suggestions, please share them with me!

Also, with the recent ice storm, you can bet there ...

Ok, some one had to do it. The weather forecast was calling for a winter advisery. At least 3+ inches of snow. Green Hills trail is not done yet. Can't have wet leaves and snow on the trail, it'll take forever to dry out. "If it is has to be, let it be me!" I've got to make the sacrifice! Bite the bullet for the cause! Some one slap me and psyche me up! Blow the leaves! Blow the leaves! iI's coming to me as fast and clear as the knock out scene in Rocky! (For young people, ...

Santa wants to know if all the little GHTA boys and girls have been good little trail stewarts this year. Seems he spotted a trail elf heading in to the woods with a blower on his back. He watched this elf very closely because this particular elf was known to do naughty things in the past. Santa could only smile as miles and miles of buff singletrack suddenly appeared, Santa was pretty impressed as he knows awesome singletrack just doesn't drop down the chimney every day.

Santa decided ...

Did you know that there is a hole in one of the service roads at Poosey? Mark told me he was out riding with a STUD one day and that guy bit it hard on the road. He said he flew through the air (10 on the dismount but a -2 on the landing) and slid a ways too. I wish I could remember who that was....hey where did that scare come from?
