The Green Hills region was represented well at the cross race in KC. We had two newbies toe the line and learn some of the ins and outs of cross racing.
Denny and Mitch raced the Cat 4 race (beginner) and it had the largest field of the day. The race was only 30 minutes long but someone ask Mitch and Denny how long it felt.
I think the boys learned why it is important to start fast and get out of the crowd. Plus, with a 30 minute race, when you don't start fast, you run out of time to catch the leaders.
James finished 2nd in the 35+ Cat 4 race in another large field of racers. James was about 10 seconds behind the leader.
I got lucky and won my race an spent the biggest portion of the race trying to move up and through all the younger guys that started before I did.
There are still lots of opportunities to race cross all the way into January. We have a place to practice now. Get out and use it.
There is two days of cross racing in KC next weekend and also a cross country race in Warsaw. Lot's of race opportunities, if that is your cup of tea!!
