I rode the Dawn loop counter clockwise yesterday and it was the first opportunity I had to ride 65 since they did the shoulder work. It was great having a solid shoulder, even though it was pretty narrow. It is not hard to stay out of traffic and they actually constructed a wider shoulder on the climb past Shoal Creek.
The shoulder is of varying widths but nothing less than 3-4 ft. Another nice feature was the absence of the rumble ridges as you entered and excited the bridges. All we need now is "Share the Road" signs between the start of Rt. Z to the intersection of C, and then on C all the way west through Dawn and up to Utica.
You still have to use caution crossing the bridge on 65, as there is not much of a shoulder and it is easy to get pinned against the wall. Not a good idea with semi's!
