| I had an opportunity to start at 510 and walk all the way to the top at 17. I was very pleased with what I saw. Kudos to Mitch on his armor job on "The Accelerator" and the chainsaw massacre work on the "mamouth" tree that was just south of "Ball's Wall". Was Jason from "Friday the 13th" out on the trail with a chainsaw or should we thank Tim and Mark?
We have some active weeps on the trail and some soft spots that may need to be armored. Creek crossings are a little wet and sketchy and have been hooved up by the deer. If you hesitate on the "gravity cavitys" you will be either crashing or walking, or both.
I'm beginning to wonder if we are going to have to bridge some of the drop ins in the future, even as much as I love them.
I trimmed from "Bottom Hollow" over to the service road to 16 and will trim the rest the way up today. I also trimmed from the boat ramp going north to the campground trail. The deer have been busy running the mogels and working out some of the dirt work. They have done a pretty good job of "running in the trail" and this is probably the only place I'd ride a bike if it was a little soft, just to mash down the uneven surface and burn it in. The "sink" on the connector between the boat launch and campground trail has sunk about 4 ft. since last year and will need to be bridged eventually.
With all the strong winds we have had lately. It might be a good idea to walk through and throw debris off and trim as you go. There are a lot of "spiney, thorny" growth popping up and out. This is the time of the year that I also trim any young growth out of the corridor, and sight lines.
We had discussed work days every month or two. I think we could plan them monthly and those that can work, just show up and work. Looking at holidays, etc.... It would be a good idea to go with the 2nd Saturday of each month. Comments?

Are you confusing Tim's face with a hockey mask?

| FYI: I rode through Indian Creek yesterday throwing off debris. The strong winds had has put a lot of small to medium sized debris on the trails. Heeving from the winter freezing is still making for some soft spongy areas and some of the areas that are weeping warrant some special attention. I came onto a area yesterday that was weeping so instead of riding through it I stopped removed the tree limb, leaves and build up of dirt that was damming the area from draining. May warrant armouring? A little maintenance and a some cooperation from mother nature, I am talkin rock and roll!! | |

| Went out and blew trail from 510 lot North to Deer Camp plus a little, with the blower I was able to get all the little debris off the trail plus any leaves that had built up (there was more leaves than I had expected). On the way out I trimmed back some vegetaion with the loppers and removed a small section of deadfall that was partially blocking the trail. Also "accented" some low limbs, we are pretty aware of things out there but just in case there are newbies or visitors. | |

| I've been really impressed with the efforts of the group this spring with the work that has been going on at Indian Creek. I think some of you have discovered what I have know for some time, it's fun to go out and work and play in the woods.
Some people enjoy working in the yard and have beautiful lawns and gardens to prove it. I tend my garden every time I go out to Indian Creek. I don't care if it's riding or hiking, I tell myself everytime that we are fortunate to have such a resource. The only problem I have is all the stops I make to observe maintenance needs.
If everyone took the incentive to mainicure their section and keep it timmmed back, debermed, and creative solutions to problems, it woulld make it easier for everyone else. If one section is left neglected, it's a "balck eye" on the rest.

| They actually vary any where from 1 mile to 2 miles. As we recruit more stewards we can size the sections down. Some sections I've assigned numerous stewards to carry the load. | |
