new year -- new username

So it's been over five years now since a moment of inattention while using a meat slicer laid grounds for the claim that both literally and figuratively, I'm "not quite all there." At any rate, what parts of me that remain, what cheese is left on my cracker, are going into 2012 with a new username. So long distalamputee. This is the both the year of the dragon and "singletrackmind."

So after checking the hourly forcast yesterday, I set my alarm for 5:30 this morning so I could get in a ride and be finished before the thaw. When the alarm sounded this morning it was tempting to say screw it and stamp my ticket for a few more hours of snoozeville. History has shown that I'll drag myself out of bed for crap I don't really want to do, so why then should I not get up for something as fantastic as a couple hours of trail time. My mantra for this morning (and potentially for the season) became: "How do you butter your bread?" (The beauty of koans and mantras and all that sort is they don't neccessarily have to make sense, especially at 5:30 in the morning.) Slow and crunchy going this morning, but it was still great to be out on the bike.
