| Many of you have asked me the current distance on phase 7. I did a training ride and left my house on my cross bike and accessed Poosey off of Rt. A off of one of the gravel lots. I rode the service road over to the start of phase 7 on the north side of the dam and started my Garmin to measure the route. It is currently .9 mi. to where I have stopped. I am at one of those points where I have a ton of options and I'm not going to rush anything. Where the trail currently ends is a perfect place to cross the creek and stay on the same corridor, or climb the contour next to the creek and cross higher and build on a higher contour. I'm trying to weigh all the options and decide which will give hikers/bikers the best trail scenario and add some variety. I guarantee any climbing added will be gradual and maintain flow. It's a times like this I wish it was fall/winter and I could better see the contours. I may actually go to the top and work backwards and create a loop out of the top campground and then come back to complete this section in the fall. I want to get this right the first time!! It looks like phase 7 has been getting some traffic and is starting to get burned in a bit. I'm throwing off many lose rocks and seeing which lines are being used the most so when we come in and do some finish work with the bench cutting we will have a clue where the best location is for the tread. I threw a bunch of debris off the trail from the recent high winds that have blown through the area. This will probably be the case for awhile as we continue to improve and burn this in. The new creek crossing is awesome. I have some tweaking to do to the climbing turn that we started bench cutting. I have already identified some trees that are going to be removed that will improve flow and open the corridor. That should be a part of maintenance on every section of trail. Those little trees on the edge of the tread will eventually become big trees down the line. Get out and enjoy our trails! Fast riders will take right at 2 hours to start at the campground, ride to the top and then return! That is the type of distance that makes that drive worth while! | |

| Hoping to get up there soon -- maybe friday, maybe saturday for the work on phase seven. At any rate, I'm chomping at the bit for some more of that sweet singletrack | |

| Jeff, Great riding with you guys yesterday and also glad to turn some more riders on to our little secret riding mecca. It's always interesting to hear the comments when riders hit the single track at IC and find out what we have in our back yard.
I hope to get some of the others and head over to Thousand Hills for one of your Wednesday Nighters. I'll start working on that now. I'm up early as we are about to go out and start working on that creek crossing just as soon as we go in and cut out that big tree.
BTW-How about that section that re-route that we worked on last year. is that sweet or what? It makes that climb so much easier and is a great transition into that switchback.
Come back and play with us anytime.

| Yeah. It was a great day out on the trails. I'm glad to hear the work day went well. I'll have to make it up for some of the work on that section. I'm really interested to be a part of "from scratch" trail building. That switchback is much easier on the SS now. Next time out, I'm hoping I'll graduate from being a Dog Hill Chew Toy. A bit of input from Duke: great trail, would love some log jumps. | |

| Trail work on phase 7 started at 8:00 am right after Tim, Mitch, and I hiked in a cut out the tree on Tim's section just below the double switchback. We work right at 3 hours and got started on the creek crossing and then took out some trees that were crowding the corridor in a section right before the crossing. We still need to armor the crossing and will do so as soon as we ride the line in. All the phase 7 corridor has been getting some wheel traffic and is slowly burning in and developing lines. I got out this morning and started flagging the next run of trail that I will start clearing corridor on this week. Be prepared to experience some of the most unique and fun single track in NoMo in the very near future. The next section will not disappoint! | |

| At the risk of jinxing myself, all systems are looking like GO for making it over for the workday this weekend. I'm thinking maybe I'll head up early, get some riding in, maybe grill some brats or burgers, then join in the real fun -- keeping my fingers crossed. | |

| Sorry I missed the work day -- ended up getting called in to work that day. Too much of my life comes with the background music "maybe next time" | |

| Hey Jeff,
We've still got plenty of trail to build so there will be lots of opportunities for next times. We didn't have a large group yesterday but we did get some more quality trail added. It's a slow a tedious process but I'd rather take my time and continue to make this trail "something special"
We are about to turn the corner and arrive at one of the control points that I've been hiking too for a number of years. Very cool deep cut ravine that has some stair step rock waterfalls at the top. These ice over in the winter and or spectacular. I'm just trying to make up my mind if I want to approach from a high contour or keep it low. It sure is great to have options. | |
