IC (Green Hills Trail) can now be accessed via gravel parking lot #21 (off Rt. A). Trail users can park in #21 and access the trail via the service road (head downhill west on the service road to the jct. and then stay right and cross the creek). The GHT (Green Hills Trail) access is on the left side as you start the steep climb. The trail will eventually cross the road and continue north.

Although none of the names of the service roads are official, to give users a reference, I refer to the roads as follows:
Bottom Hollow Road (service road that originates at parking lot #21 (Northeast via Rt. A), drops down and then through the bottoms from north to south crossing the creek and climbing all the way to the high point on the south ridge by the Kessler Cemetery and intersects Deer Camp Road. The GHT crosses Bottom Hollow Road on the south ridge.

West Fork- Bottom Hollow-Service road that forks off Bottom Hollow road on the north end, crosses the creek west and climbs to the top of the ridge and intersects the service road (Ridge Road) that exits at parking lot #19. (This is the road that is the current north access for the GHT)

Deer Camp Road-Service road that starts at parking lot #16 travels southeast over the pond dam and deadends at the entrance of Deer Camp access trail. Deer Camp Road can be used to access Bottom Hollow Road.

Cemetery Road-Service road that starts at parking lot #16 travels east to Jct. of GHT and continues until it intersects Bottom Hollow Road. This road is currently not maintained by the MDC but is maintained by the GHTA as an access trail to the GHT.

Ridge Road-Service road that starts at parking lot #17 and travels northeast with access/exit points at parking lot #18 or #20. West fork Bottom Hollow also "T's" into Ridge Road for access east to Bottom Hollow Rd and parking lot #21. The GHT is accessed on the north side of the pond dam via Ridge Road at #17.

As you can see, linking the GHT with the service roads creates a number of stack loop options and numerous access points for trail maintenance. Riders can now drop a car at CG trail access and then drive to #21 and do a top to bottom ride, or jump on Rt. A to CR512 and back to access at CG trail. More loops and options should serve as gateway opportunities for more trail users. More trail users will hopefully mean more interest in the trails and more volunteers to maintain the trails. More trail users also means more people getting out and exercising and relieving stress and hopefully dropping Missouri's per population obesity rate down from 32%. Also, let's not forget that sportsmen will have some very nice trails to access the forest for hunting and fishing opportunities. Everyone wins when we work together!!

Rode my cross bike out to Poosey and jumped on the trail via #21. Wanted to see how the new creek crossings handled the 3+" of rain. They were bone dry and didn't even look like a drop had ran through. The cross bike handled all the off camber sections just fine, although there are sections where the tread needs to be firmed up. There are some new trees down as a result of the rain/storm that passed through. They were all "vine killed" and standing dead so it was just time before they would be coming down. One tree fell and landed, or pulled down the others. I hope to get out and cut them out before the Mega Work Weekend-Sept. 15-16. The trail tread all the way to the creek crossing we need to armor is getting lots of traffic and the line is really burning in. The section next to the creek that used to be off camber and lose has a nice line now. Don't know if that is from riders or if the deer are trotting the line.

The mileage for the section starting at the north end of the dam at #17 and where it currently ends at the intersection of West Fork Bottom Hollow (WFBH) is right at exactly 2 miles by my Garmin. I want to put a wheel calibrated computer on my bike and measure it that way also. The Garmin tends to jump a bit on any of the switchbacks.

I rode through from #17 all the way to Bottom Hollow road throwing off debris from the rain/storm. Saw tracks from multiple riders on that section. I jumped on BHR and rode it all the way up to the intersection of Cemetery road and jumped on that old cut all the way back to the intersection of the trail and up to parking lot #16, gravel to #17, GHT (Green Hills Trail) back to #21 and home. This ended up being a 30 mi. training ride for me. Had my tunes cranked up and a smile on my face the whole time. Sweeeeeeeet!
