Got a new toy in the early stages of development...

With some luck, I'll have everything all built up and/or swapped over by next week. With even a bit more luck, the weather gods will see fit to lay off on their current M.O. of cold and wet.

With the help of a few friends I've managed to get out for a couple of break in rides on the new machine -- great to get some dirt under my tires again. Unfortunately, my fork may have taken the whole idea of the break in ride too literally as it has begun to ooze oil. I'll take the slow bleed type of failure over the slow motion, life passing before my eyes, ass over tea kettle, sort of failure any day of the week though. cheers

The geometry of the new bike runs a bit slack of the old XC standard (70/72 I think), and I'm confident that it is going to thrive on some of that rocky, rooty, Crowder goodness. I might have to set my sights on the trail running challenge for a while though if my fork is too old to survive a rebuild. Keeping my fingers crossed.
