It's almost fall and that means cooler weather and gravel grinding.

We are fortunate to live in the "Green Hills" region and have some "epic" grinder options.

Jeri and I ended up at Jamesport yesterday and the wheels started rolling in my head. I want the "Groundhog Gravel Grinder" Aka "Chuckies Challenge" to morph a little for next year. I'll be talking to the Heartland boys and I'm going to try and promote this a little better for next year. I want to start and finish it in Jamesport. I'll be
looking for some ideas from our crew.

I thought about offering a stage race format with two days of gravel grinding and trying to keep a crowd in the area but I'm not sure how that would go over. Seems to be popular with cross racing. May be better to keep the one day format and loop it through town a couple of times. Maybe start at 10:00 am to give people time to travel and register, digest breakfast, etc....

With all the cancellations last year with early races and wet trail conditions, this may be the route to go early season.

I agree with a route like this early season because folks are ready to ride anything even if it is not single track when it is raining lots. I feel it would work in the fall as well!!! Most have gotten plenty of single track by then and are in good shape and somewhat enjoy putting out the power that a gravel grinder takes.
