up coming Green Hills Challenge 2011

Just wanted to get everybody chomping at the bit for a 2011 New Year's Resolution.''

Details are coming very soon, but the basic premise of the Green Hills Challenge is that you sign up for as many categories as you think you can handle. (each category cost $5 to enter) If you complete your challenge(s) by December 31, 2011, you earn a custom-made GHTA pint glass for each challenge.

There will be mileage challenges in the following categories: Road, Gravel, Single track, Indoor cycling, Hiking, and a combined "Cyclist Triathlon". Stay tuned for the actual mileages required!

There is also a free challenge to GHTA members to earn a pint glass. It involves donating time/effort doing trail work. Everyone should work toward this worthy goal.....you get a free pint glass, plus you do good work for the trails in our area!

Another ULTIMATE challenge that will be of no cost to you is the Green Hills 5000 Mile Club. '' Yep, you read that correct. That's 5000 miles of any kind of riding, on any kind of bike (even recumbents???) during 2011. Accomplish that goal and GHTA will present to you some cool gift. (we haven't thought of what is could be, but it better be cool if you're putting in 5000 miles)

Mark Jenkins is helping me with utilising this website for submitting and recording mileages. If all goes as plan, you will be able to keep track of other members' mileages in their challenges, as well as, your own.

Can I do the 5000 mile challenge on a unicycle while juggling double edged ninja swords? Just let me know, I need to get mentally focused ASAP.

While the Green Hills Challenge 2011 rules state "on any kind of bicycle" (bi=two wheels), I am declaring unicycles legal in the spirit of good sportsmanship. Just make sure you have some band-aides.

Please have someone videotape you so it can get posted on You Tube. It will get so many hits that everyone in the world will know about the awesome riders we have in the Green Hills Trail Association.
