It's official, the 7th phase/trail segment, at Indian Creek got started last Saturday-April 2nd. The initial stretch of phase 7 passes through a meadow and section of hedge/locust before we can get to the sweet contours and some very cool terrain for trail building. Thanks to all that came out and volunteered on both Saturday and Sunday. When this segment is completed, the trail will be right at 9 miles from campground loop (by the boat launch) to the north campground and parking area #20. A ride from bottom to top and back will be some of the best riding and hiking in the north.

We probably could have finished over a half mile but Jan and Mitch took a 2 hour lunch break then came back telling us that they were now satisfied. I dont know...but Im not going to judge. Laughing

I'm not sure why Jan insisted on playing that soft music in the background and eating with candle light, hell it was light outside. affraid

I haven't been able to post for a few weeks -- started having a bit of cyber withdrawl...

I still haven't hiked the new phase of trail yet. I made it out Wed but things were starting to get too wet. You guys have a serious clay component to contend with. I hope my short outing didn't put the hurt to your trails.

I hope your short outing diidn't put the hurt to our trails, also!!!!!! We don't ride at Indiian Creek if it's wet. If you park at the dam or campground, it doesn't take very long to figure out if the trails are too wet and going to rut. I've found that "tires with a large amount of earthen material rotating in a mass" is a pretty good sign that the trails are too wet to ride!!!

When in doubt, don't!! Better to email or inquire before heading over. Or call me.

How's the riding at 1000H?

Im heading over to run the trimmer at Campground. I rode the campground loop on Thursday night and had one spot that was still tacky on the north side. If you rode at the Campground on Wed you didnt leave any tracks, believe me i would have noticed!!

The only real bad section on my "ride" last week was at the top of False Hope. Everything else was firm but clearly damp. I ran out of gas in a huge way, very early and tuned around -- in part because I way too dehydrated, but mainly because it would only take a cloud burst or two and I'd be out ruining your wonderful singletrack -- absolutely criminal.

My main mission was to pick up the Rogue Hoe. What a sweet piece of machinery... It will be put through the paces at Thousand Hills Trail in the coming days and weeks. I'm super excited about its brushing abilities.

I made it out today for a ride at THT, my first real ride since my bottom bracket broke six weeks ago. A few days out with the trimmer and about a dozen or so hike throughs (over five sections) with the hoe and loppers and it should be in decent shape.

Happy Trails.
