PostSubject: "Chucky's #3 is in the books!"   Sun Feb 07, 2010 8:21 am

We all knew that sooner or later we were going to get some real winter at the first of February and "Chucky's" could get epic. That was part of the thinking. A ride in the early part of the year to give you motivation to keep training through the winter and give riders something to launch their riding season with.

I have to admit that I wouldn't have been too surprised if there was only a couple of people at Jamesport for "Chucky #3". The fresh snow was going to throw a twist into the mix and for those individuals that haven't ridden on ice/snow, it was going to be very challenging.
I was blown away when I pulled into the parking lot at Jamesport and there was bikes and people everywhere. 20+ riders for "Chucky's 2010."

I can't speak for other people, but to me, the snow, ice, "ride the course regardless of the conditions" is part of the equation. I call them "campfire stories." "Chucky's 3" was an opportunity to earn some "bragging rights" and challenge that "spirit of adventure" that keeps us fresh and alive.

Congratulations to all the Green Hills faithful that came out and braved the conditions. For those of you that couldn't make the ride this year, I'm sure you will have more opportunities to script your own "campfire story" on a future "Chucky's".

What an awesome ride. Some show up just to ride their bike. Some show up and use it as training ride. Some show up to compare the fittnes and bike handling skill against other riders. Rides like this provide all the above. But here is the thing. Its the camaraderie that built amongst fellow cyclists that makes this ride and others like successful. And events that provides opportunity for this sort of camaraderie doesnt happen without a concentrated effort on someone's part. So having said all that to say thanks on behalf of all who particpated and those who wanted to participate but for what ever reason could'nt.
